Adventures of Rhapsody p. II

I’ve only dabbled a little in Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure the past few weeks, but I’ve finally picked it up again, and I’ve been remembering all my little adventures since I last started.

First of all, I’ve met the villainess: Marjoly, pictured above. The very ancient, risque, boob-bouncing witch who has stolen our heroine’s dearest Prince. Of course, she comically believes she is in love with the Prince, and that she can make him fall in love with her too; but what really seems to entrance everyone is her jiggling upper torso and scanty clothing. And yet, despite that, her minions are still pointing out how old she is, especially compared to the Prince. Bizarre. Did I mention Marjoly’s minions are a bird-person, a cat-person, and a dog-person? Yeah . . .

But then, let’s take a look at our dashing young heroine Cornet. She’s comic in and of herself - Rhapsody is really rife with giggles. Right now, though, I don’t really care for dear Cornet. You see, in order to rescue her Prince, she has to obtain these special stones (and return them to an altar, which reminded me strongly of a Pokémon movie). So far, I’ve gotten the first stone taken, and it resulted in the death of two guardian dragons and the upset of the volcano they protected. Cornet and crew now have to tend to the baby dragon left behind - repentance for their mistake, right? But now that I’m heading into the second area, being told that the loss of the second stone would result in the death of the legendary Ninetails creatures? I sense this girl is bringing nothing but naive devastation in her wake, and it makes me want to slap her silly, or ditch her. I’ll say this much: Rhapsody is definitely turning out to be a different story line than I expected. At least, it seems that way to me. Oh, and I still can’t master the horn-playing mini-game in town; it’s been since third grade since I’ve played the trumpet, and have no intention of spitting on my DS screen.
