WoW: Resto Shaman Pre-Heroic Gear Guide

For those of you resto shaman out there who have been dropping by, and for those new, I’ve completed a pre-heroic (level 80) gear guide.

You can read it here (on eHow.)

Some pointers for you with gear:

Your top five priorities should be spell power, intellect, mana regen, crit, and haste, in that order. No, you don’t need to focus on mail armor, but there’s damned good mail armor out there, since Blizzard has finally figured out gearing for most classes. Spirit is not terribly useful, since our mana regen and healing comes from intellect, and mp/5 is a far superior stat to straight spirit.

Save a little hit. Even if it’s not part of your main equipment, get a little hit gear and put it in your bag. Blizzard’s cleanse mechanic is still based on hit, so in a cleanse heavy fight, it might be of use.

Prepare to prioritize Emblem purchases. As you begin running heroics and start collecting emblems, have a spending plan. My recommendation? Start with Protective Barricade of the Light, and then get The Egg of Mortal Essence. The rest can be bought at your choice.

Run instances you don’t need. It may seem counterintuitive for getting gear, but it builds your reputation as a healer, and that will be priceless for heroics and raids.

Also, if you’re planning on being a top end-game healer, start preparing for what you need in terms of consumables. Buy or have made potions (Flask of Frost Wyrm, Spellpower Elixir, Runic Mana Potions). Find a local cook and farm for them, or better yet, build up your own cooking skill and make your own buff food. And farm money, even if it’s just a few dailies a day. Repairs, consumables, enchants, enhancements all add up quickly.

Good luck, and good healing.
