Web Game Review: Robot Dinosaurs That Shoot Beams When They Roar
Today, I’d like to feature a little web game I found yesterday while digging away. So without further ado, let me introduce you to:

That’s right: Robot Dinosaurs That Shoot Beams When They Roar. No, I can’t make that up (if I could, I’d probably be a game designer, and not a video game blogger). And despite the rather accurate and corny name, RDTSBWTR (whew, that’s a mouthful) is actually a rather fun game.
It’s a moonlight night, and a young lad is about to show his lady friend the nice interior of his car’s back seat, when suddenly - THUD! The young man goes to investigate, to find that two robot dinosaurs have landed on earth. After eating the hapless chap, the roaring dinosaurs go off to get more dino power.
Your hero is one of the two dinosaurs available: Tyrannosaurus X or Dinomite. Both are effectively the same, so it’s just a matter of which you find is cooler. And then you’re off to the skies. Robot Dinosaurs is a 2D, side scrolling shooter reminiscent of many arcade spaceship games. Shoot your enemies - comprising of space ships, black holes, turrets, and fighter planes - and navigate past buildings to the end of the stage. The best part? You really do shoot laser beams when you “Roaaaaaaaaaaar,” and the sound effects are hysterical.

The above is the final boss. I don’t really know how to describe it, but what I can say is the fight is classically cool, designed with the same kind of challenges you saw in old side-scrollers of the day. Unfortunately, the game only has one stage - so after you are rewarded with a very cheesy ending, it’s game over.
Nonetheless, I like the game, and have played it a few times. It’s whimsical, fun, and straightforward. So if you love free to play web games, go check it out. It’s worth at least one play.
