Oblivion: Prelude to the Fight Club
With the tasks of the Thieve’s Guild now off my shoulders, and the Fighter’s Guild waiting for my application, I took a little questing break to explore a few places. I hit Fort Caractarus, Fort Nikel, Yellow Tick Cave, Fort Ash, and Breakneck Cave. I won’t bore you with the details of each little turn, or we’d be here forever. I will say, however, that I’ve become a fairly good shot:

That one had to have been amazingly painful. But at least it didn’t bear the shame of his companion, who got shot in the ass:

I have to say: for being a person who doesn’t generally click with stealth classes, it sure is my favorite thing to do in Oblivion. I’ve also become much better at aiming than I used to be - maybe I should try FPS’s again. Anyway, those scavenging expeditions netted me with level 10 and the following very nice little loot items:

Yep, very nice haul! Anyhow, I head off finally to the Fighter’s Guild to begin some “honest” work. This means no Gray Fox helm, and it also means Venus is going to be fighting toe-to-toe. Stealthing, backstabbing, sneak attacks are all being put to the wayside. Sure, I can do some of these missions with them, but not only is it not the Fighter’s Guild style, I need to build up my Blade, Light Armor, and Block as it is.
So I begin as an Associate, and my first mission is to deliver weapons to the Desolate Mine. Not a hard mission; I head out there, give them the weapons, and we beat the ever-living snot out of goblins. I will say though, my “guildies” aren’t a bunch of help - not only do they run off without me, they often run by and go after some unseen goblin, running by two goblins in the process! Ah well. The mission is a success, and so it’s off to Anvil to get my next contract.
