In honor of its launch, Prince of Persia: The Fallen King for Nintendo DS has had a new trailer released. The Prince of Persia line has been (as some call it) “chibified,” or rather, animated, in a less realistic way. None the less, I think that the title on the DS has promise. It looks well designed for the DS interface, utilizing both screens in a simple way for a side-scrolling adventure. Definite add to my GameFly list, even though I am not highly attuned to adventure games of that style anymore. The game should release on December 5th for those of us in the US; it was released today in the EU.
After watching just a little bit of previews of the new Prince of Persia game (X-Box 360/Playstation 3), I have to say this: I am simply dying to get this game. I have always been enchanted by the Prince of Persia series, but the storyline, gameplay, and sheer beauty of this December release has just won my heart.
In 2008, we have a new Prince (who isn’t a prince at all, simply a vagabond), a new female ally (who fights with Prince the entire game and prevents him from dying), and an amazing mystical storyline woven from deeper myths than the original game. Not only that, but the game is non-linear. Watching trailers, it feels like a rebirth of Shadows of the Colossus.
As GamingToday recently shared, the gaming classic Prince of Persia had humble origins. Inspired by The Book of One Thousand and One Nights, the original story was based on rescuing a princess. As time progressed, so did the storyline. By creating a new prince, PoP is venturing to recreate the classic and captivate our hearts once more.
Take a look at the music trailer for this beautiful game, and tell me you don’t want this game.
I think Tetris has to be the ultimate classic video game. Simple but requiring thought and hand-eye coordination, anyone who hasn’t played Tetris is well. . . lacking in something vital of our video gaming culture.
Tetris Party for WiiWare looks like a simply amazing touch up of the classic, especially with the balance board, shadow, race, and co-op modes. You can be sure this is a must-get on my list. Mm, Tetris for hours on end . . .
